 Mother Durga, manifested out of the eternal truth, is the power terrible. She has in it all the powers, thus the name “Paripoorna”, the totality.

Man, the imperfect is riddled with negative thoughts, fears, and yearnings. These are selfishness, jealousy, meanness prejudice and hatred… just to mention a few. To eliminate these evils, no amount of soft persuasion can avail. There must be a deep, determined, adamantine resolve. Invoke the mother terrible to help us annihilate within our self all negative forces; all weaknesses and little nesses.

This particular form of universal mother is worshipped in Bengal to guard away all the evils.
